SCREENACT LAUNCHES ACCELERATOR PROGRAMS TO BOOST FEATURE FILMMAKING

ScreenACT is pleased to announce the launch of Accelerator POD and Screen Accelerator.

Accelerator POD is a development initiative of ScreenACT, in partnership with ACT Screen Industry Association (ACTSIA), which provides a pathway to market for filmmakers looking to produce low-budget genre feature films. The 10.5-day program spread over four phases is open to participants from across Australia, and will bring together writers and producers who are keen to kick- start their careers with projects in the Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller, Action and Family genres. The program culminates with a chance to pitch for selection to Screen Accelerator (maximum of four projects) and receive $25,000 in commercialisation services to assist in getting your film made.

Accelerator POD and Screen Accelerator have been created with the assistance of Griffin Accelerator and Odin’s Eye Entertainment, and are designed with tailored development and production opportunities that encourage filmmakers to concentrate on their project’s creative development while receiving hands-on commercialisation support. Participants will refine their projects from concept stage to market ready packages, with additional help in finding production funds.

With the support of our government and industry partners, the opportunity to establish the ACT as the home for low-budget genre films is now here,” said Monica Penders, ACTSIA’s CEO and Director of ScreenACT.

International sales agent Michael Favelle (Odin’s Eye International) will be heavily involved in both Accelerator Pod and Screen Accelerator. Karel Segers, renowned story consultant, script editor and founder of The Story Department, will facilitate Accelerator POD.
