As of July 1, all screen activity that has been delivered by the ACT Screen Industry Association (ACTSIA) will be rebranded to Screen Canberra.

Monica Penders, CEO of Screen Canberra, said “there is much confusion in the market place with the ACTSIA and ScreenACT brands.

As our level of production increases on a national basis and as we ramp up activity with our sister city Wellington and strategic partner Singapore, it is important to have a clear brand that states who and what we are.

Whilst ACTSIA continues to exist as an entity, the public facing brand is Screen Canberra. ”

The rebrand aligns with the ACT government branding strategy. Screen Canberra plays an important role in assisting to deliver on government objectives such as attracting and retaining talented people, diversifying our local economy, being a smart city and its ever growing international engagement strategy.

The organization is now governed by a nationally recognized board. Our board members are Dr David Court, (Chair), an internationally acclaimed academic and industry expert; Sandra Sdraulig (Deputy Chair) former head of Film Victoria and current chair of the Adelaide Film Festival and newest board member Andrew Mackie, Managing Director of Transmission Films.

Canberra based professionals Scott Chamberlain; Lecturers at ANU and Lawyer; Peter Bayliss; Entertainment Accountant and John Frohlich, Screen culture expert and Educator, round out the board.

David Court, Chair said that “Canberra has great potential to be a major player in the Australian screen sector. Ease of access to locations, a hop up the highway from the commissioning agents and broadcasters and growing capacity in crew and talent add to the attraction of Canberra. A great place to shoot and to relocate your screen business

Screen Canberra has also moved to new office space in the Canberra Technology Park in Watson.
