Joe Cinque’s Consolation, the new film about the death in Canberra of Joe Cinque, has been selected for the 41st Toronto International Film Festival, marking the films’ international premiere.

The film will be released in Australian cinemas on October 13
It had its world premiere as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival at which its two sessions sold out in a matter of hours.

ANU law student Anu Singh killed her boyfriend Joe Cinque by injecting him with heroin in 1997 in a flat they were sharing in Downer.

The ACT government invested in Joe Cinque’s Consolation, which was filmed around the national capital.

” It is the first local feature film to be accepted into competition in one of the top tier international film festival. A great coup,” ScreenACT director Monica Penders said.
